Dr. Candace Burckhardt is an international educator who has worked with schools throughout the globe. When she is not traveling, Candace is based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she loves to spend her time in the outdoors.

Candace provides professional development to schools on special education topics, building trauma informed classrooms, English language learners, brain-based teaching strategies, mindfulness and meditation, and behavior management. You can read praise from educational professionals who have attended her trainings here. Candace's approaches and trainings are rooted in the most up-to-date scientific research on what works in schools.

Candace received her doctorate from Johns Hopkins University. Her doctoral research focus was on using mindfulness in the classroom as a way to increase self-regulation and working memory. She was chosen as a 2016 Mind & Life Europe Research Fellow based on her cutting-edge work on mindfulness in schools.

Current Projects

Right now my focus is on creating tools for educators to use to implement mindfulness interventions in their classrooms.
I have also been studying the role of power in education systems such as large school districts.
I am focused on publishing my doctoral research in a scientific journal.

I am continuing to interview and learn about international schools as I travel the world.
